Perfect for Valentine’s Day, brunch parties, or special mornings, these waffles deliver crisp edges, soft centers, and a beautiful marble effect in every bite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1¾ cups milk
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tsp cocoa powder (for red velvet swirl)
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar (for swirl)
  • 1 tbsp red food coloring
  • ½ tsp vinegar (optional)

Instructions

  1. Mix dry ingredients: Whisk flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, salt, and sugar in a bowl.
  2. Mix wet ingredients: In another bowl, whisk eggs, milk, melted butter, and vanilla.
  3. Combine: Stir wet ingredients into dry until just combined.
  4. Make red batter: Remove ¾ cup batter, mix with extra cocoa, sugar, food coloring, and vinegar.
  5. Preheat waffle iron: Lightly grease and heat.
  6. Marble batter: Add base batter, dollop red batter on top, and gently swirl.
  7. Cook: Close waffle iron and cook 4–6 minutes until crisp.
  8. Serve: Enjoy warm with desired toppings.

Notes

  • Do not overmix batter to keep waffles light and fluffy.
  • Swirl gently for the best marble effect.
  • Grease waffle iron well to prevent sticking.
